Ziggy Who?

Hi, my name is Sara, aka ZiggyShrugged.  I am an artist, creator, and all-around crazy gal.  If you ask my best friend to describe me, she says I am a shade off normal :)   My alias comes from two places, first when I was younger I received a Ziggy washcloth as a gift and began drawing the Ziggy cartoon all over my things, and second one of my favorite books is Atlas Shrugged ... and voilà, I became Ziggy Shrugged!

I have been creating art for as long as I can remember. My first artistic endeavor was to make a pig pinata out of an old envelope box, five styrofoam cups, and a roll of newsprint.  It sure was fun filling it up with candy, then busting it all to pieces to get it out.

Over the years I have created quilling pictures, faux-stained glass pieces such as transom windows and wine glasses, paintings, and specialty buttons. I have customed crafted embellished wedding invitations, fashioned costumes from scratch, weaved macramé pieces, and even produced event videos.  While volunteering, I painted backdrops, made props for events and for characters I played in programs.

Art has always been my secret passion, and after years spent in the "working world" I decided it was time to follow the dream and start my own little business sharing my love of art with others.

My two guiding principles, I believe –

• Art should come from the heart, reflecting the one for whom it is created, and

• Should be created in a manner that is respectful of you, the patron, as more than just another customer.
